Octoburst! is back on Children’s Day on 4 Oct this year! Presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Octoburst! has in store for you a full day's worth of programmes for audiences of all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Kicking off with a bang is Kranji Primary School’s Percussion Ensemble at the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre at Esplanade. Supported by their instructors, the ensemble will play rousing tunes from around the world and some lucky audience members might even get a chance to try out the instruments themselves.

The fun continues throughout the day at the Esplanade Concourse with a variety of performances. Sing along to popular children’s songs and folk tunes performed by The Frontier Choir and all-time favourite Disney tunes and more performed by Juara Mic Junior Season 2 winner, Sarah Alia. Get to learn simple breakdancing moves, in a mass dance-along session by Artistate, where movements are designed with children of diverse abilities in mind.

Always trying out new ideas, we are partnering new artists and creating projects just for preschoolers this year. At the Esplanade White Room, check out A Little RAW, an interactive inclusive dance performance inspired by traditional childhood games like paper balls and airplanes. Led by Matthew Goh and Shawn Tan, this performance brings visibility to the importance of inclusivity and diverse abilities. Additionally, look out for the pop-up storytelling sessions created by Genevieve Tan and Angelina Chandra which will be held all around the centre, in between performances at the main venues.

There will be lots of hands-on activities for our little ones to participate in. The Esplanade Forecourt Garden will be transformed into a giant chalk canvas for participants to leave their mark, creating a collaborative artwork by the day’s end. There will also be a craft station where children can make their own lantern to take home or join in at the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre at Esplanade during the closing event, where there will be an interactive storytelling adventure by Zip Zap Zoom Collective.
