The Singtel Waterfront Theatre is a purpose-built, mid-sized, multi-format performance venue situated along the bustling Esplanade waterfront. The theatre can fulfil a range of staging and seating requirements with its ability to transform into various configurations.
It can accommodate up to 600 people in its traditional proscenium theatre end-on setting and up to 700 people (standing) in a flat floor setting. Equipped with a manual fly system, and adaptable staging, lighting, and sound systems – it is purpose-built to meet the demands of a variety of events and performances.
The addition of this new theatre to Esplanade’s existing stable of large performance halls and smaller studio spaces is a dream come true not just for the national arts centre, but also for Singapore’s next generation of artists and audiences. It will enable Esplanade to commission, produce and present more productions, especially those that tell Singapore and Asian stories. In addition, this new theatre will also support the arts centre in developing and presenting a greater diversity of productions. It will enable homegrown artists and arts groups to scale up their productions for bigger audiences, both in Singapore and overseas, playing a key role in nurturing our talents and bringing people from all walks of life together through the arts.
