Programme Format and Support Available

As part of your participation in TRIP, you will have:

• The opportunity to direct and present two productions over two years at the Esplanade Theatre Studio.

  • In the first year, you will be asked to select from a pool of scripts.

  • In the second year, you will be able to stage a play of your choice.

  • Both productions will be ticketed and produced by Esplanade.

• Access to full professional Creative and Technical teams.

  
  

  • Apart from working with these teams directly on the productions, you will also be able to learn about their wider experiences in working in the industry through coffee chats and informal meetings.

• Access to a Resource Panel of experienced directors for guidance and advice at specific key milestones of the productions' development.

• Industry chats with experienced professionals within and beyond the programme framework.

• Opportunities to attend selected performances at Esplanade, where possible.

• Opportunities to attend selected Esplanade Academy courses, where suitable and feasible. Past courses have covered topics such as Production and Technical Theatre Practice and Stage Lighting Design.

As part of your participation in TRIP, you will have:

• A stipend of $2,000 for each year of the programme.

• A director's fee for each production (to be discussed with selected applicants).

• The production costs of both presentations, which includes manpower, technical resources as well as rehearsal and performance venues. The production budgets are subject to Esplanade’s approval.

• Access to the Resource Panel for consultation.

• Opportunities to network, engage and work with seasoned theatre design and technical professionals.

• Esplanade will market and publicise the productions as part of The Studios: TRIP.
