Nanyin Fusion: Rendezvous

Siong Leng Musical Association (SLMA) was established in 1941 and owes much of its success to its late chairman, Mr Teng Mah Seng, a Cultural Medallion recipient who worked hard to reform and revive nanyin. Under his guidance, SLMA has become a recognisable arts company known for its preservation and promotion of nanyin. Since Mr Teng’s passing, SLMA has kept true to its mission and has cultivated a group ofnanyin professionals over the years. It aims for nanyin music to be recognised on international stages and to create more exposure for traditional and contemporary nanyin music through performances as well as education and outreach initiatives.

A civil engineer by training, Sebastian Ho pursued his love for music after graduating in 2001. Since then, he has performed at various concerts, club gigs, corporate functions, festivals, weddings, recordings, musical theatre productions as well as for Mediacorp TV and radio. He has also played backup for well-known artists including Laura Fygi, George Lam, Kenny Bee, Shirley Kwan Qi Yu, Pan Yue Yun, Wan Fang, Eric Moo, Mavis Hee, Kit Chan and Joanna Dong, to name a few. Ho was principal guitarist at the billion-dollar grossing award-winning Broadway musical The Lion King. He was also involved in local and other international musicals such as A Chorus Line, Santa Claus and Evita.
