About Timothy Ng
Timothy is currently a Soloist at Singapore Ballet. He first joined the company as an Apprentice in 2016, and was promoted to Artist in 2017 and soloist in 2022.
Timothy was born in Singapore, and began learning ballet with Ms Sylvia McCully at the age of seven. He continued his training in ballet with Singapore Dance Theatre (now known as Singapore Ballet)’s Scholars Programme after he finished serving his National Service and performed with Youth Dancers Singapore in Ballet Under the Stars 2011 and Macau International Youth Dance Festival 2012.
Concurrent with his training in classical ballet, Timothy also enrolled in Singapore University of Technology and Design where he graduated with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Engineering Product Development Mechanical Engineering). Timothy has enjoyed performing in much of the company’s repertoire that includes Theme and Variations, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and The Sleeping Beauty. He has also danced the role of Paris in Romeo and Juliet (2020), The Espada in Don Quixote (2019), and the Spanish Couple in Swan Lake (2019).
About Singapore Ballet
Singapore Ballet (formerly known as Singapore Dance Theatre) was founded in 1988 by Goh Soo Khim and Anthony Then. Singapore Ballet is a homegrown premier dance company comprising 38 professional dancers, and trainees. The company produces six seasons annually, highlights of which include the widely popular outdoor dance event Ballet Under the Stars at Fort Canning Park, a selection of two full-length classics, Masterpiece in Motion, which brings together three works by international choreographers, as well as Passages, a contemporary dance showcase.
The company’s repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary ballet, with pieces created by renowned choreographers including Choo-San Goh, George Balanchine, Kinsun Chan, Val Caniparoli, Ma Cong, Edmund Stripe, Natalie Weir, Edwaard Liang, Nils Christe, Toru Shimazaki, Christina Chan, Timothy Harbour, Alice Topp, François Klaus, Tim Rushton, Pam Tanowitz and Loughlan Prior.
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Janek Schergen, the company has made new strides in the international and Singapore dance arena, adding 43 world premieres, 21 company premieres and new productions to the repertoire.
