Synopsis

The kathak showcase features three segments: RAMA RASA, Ghazal Elegance and Harmony in Motion. The first segment begins with an invocation dedicated to Lord Ram, followed by a technical taal showcase. The second showcases the versatility and agility of the dancers in adapting to different musical rhythms. The third segment concludes with a vibrant Sargam performance, bringing together intricate rhythmic patterns and melodic expressions.

Artist Information

Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society

Guru Minhaz Khan, from Pune, was initiated into kathak dance at five by his father. He has performed extensively in India, Southeast Asia and outside the region. 

 

Guru Aamrapali Bhandari is a professional kathak dancer from New Delhi, who trained under Guru Rajendra Gangani. She is a B graded artist of Doordarshan. 

 

Guru Supriyo Banerjee started learning the tabla from his father and has been taking lessons since 1991. He was awarded the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture in 2007.

 

Guru Subhadeep Biswas started learning harmonium and vocal classical under his father's guidance. He has received over 50 awards in various cultural competitions and has a 7th year degree in Bengali. 

 

Guru Shibani Roy started learning Hindustani vocal music at 11 with Manju Chakravorty and later from Sanhita Majumder and Shantanu Bhattacharyya. She obtained her Masters in Indian Music from Khairagarh University. 

 

All of them are Tutors at Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society.
