Hillary Francis is a composer who writes songs purely from his heart with an emphasis on people, surroundings and greatest of all, his creator. Besides English oldies, he sings in many languages and has been an entertainer since 1965. He has performed his compositions, Let Courtesy Show, Singapore, You’re So Fine and Vamarilaicome Singapore for Singapore’s presidents and ministers at functions islandwide. He taught vocals, guitar, piano and drums as a freelance music tutor to children and adults both in music schools and in private. He has produced charity CD albums entitled A Tribute to Mother Teresa, A Dedication To Mother Mary For The New Millennium and Peace.
In 2011, he wrote, A Song For Japan (Nihon kara tsunami no uta) to raise funds for the tsunami and earthquake victims. In 1998, he was invited to sing his song written for Mother Teresa at her tomb at the Missionaries of Charity HQ in Calcutta, India. In 1981, his composition, Mr Starshine won the outstanding performance and outstanding composition award at the SPA Song Festival on SBC Channel 5. In 1978, Hillary was a finalist at the 1st Singapore Yamaha Song Festival held at the then National Theatre with his composition, A Message To The Lord. In 1978, he was a guest artiste with the Singapore Symphonic Orchestra at the Victoria Theatre. In 1975, he represented Singapore at the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo Budokan, Japan. In 1969, he released a single entitled, Candlelight with his band, The Sandboys.
