The performance will bring the audience through Singapore’s history, from the past to current times in the form of music. Delighting the audience with songs that depict the country’s determination, dreams and aspirations to overcome all challenges we may face, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) Band has curated a three-set performance by multiple ensembles.
The Big Band, Combo Band, Showband, Women Police Pipes & Drums as well as the Gurkha Contingent Pipes & Drums will be presenting an array of music, specially arranged to celebrate Singapore’s independence. The repertoire comprises music from differing genres, which includes familiar sing-alongs and National Day favourites.
The performance aims to show appreciation to our past as a country, whilst also boasting our present, through performing music dating back to our British colonisation days, to our present days of independence.
Mask-wearing is not required, though encouraged, for outdoor events. No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Singapore Police Force Band
The Singapore Police Force (SPF) Band was formed in 1925 as the Straits Settlement Police Band. Over the years, it has evolved from a strict regimental marching band to a versatile performance band. Apart from being the oldest and one of the premier bands in Singapore, it also has the distinction of being the only band complemented by a group of bag pipers.
To generate artistic ideas and develop greater versatility, smaller ensembles such as Brass Quintet, Saxophone Quartet, Combo Band, and has attained a high professional standard of musicianship, which has been recognised both locally and internationally. The Singapore Police Force Wind Orchestra was formed in August 1998, giving the band yet another opportunity to keep up with developments around the world and music scene. Ever keen to explore new frontiers, the SPF Band aims to achieve this by strengthening its position as a premier band in Singapore and striving to be a world-class police band.
