Synopsis

On the 15th day of the Lunar New Year, many Chinese people celebrate with reunion dinners and tang yuan, a glutinous rice ball dessert, is usually enjoyed.

 

Join us for a playdate at PIP’s playbox with a storytelling session featuring the story A Rain-bowl of Happiness, as well as sensory play session where children can get their hands on by making some Rainbow tang yuan using non-edible play dough with other natural colourings. 

 

The story A Rain-bowl of Happiness is locally written and illustrated by BrookieKids. Inspired by Emily Yeo's The Little Book of Singapore Food Illustrated, the story follows Olive, Kale and Mum as they make a bowl of Rainbow tang yuan with colourings from natural ingredients such as butterfly pea and pandan leaves. 

 

This playdate will be led by Little Forest, who promise sessions of fun and laughter with your little ones.

BrookieKids is a Singapore-based edu-tech company with a mission to support families in nurturing a positive attitude toward Mandarin. They draw inspiration from the power of play to design age-appropriate experiences that foster a child’s natural curiosity and love of learning. To date, BrookieKids have produced over 50 Mandarin stories for children aged two to six years old and organised multiple community Mandarin playdates.

 

In this event, BrookieKids is honoured to work alongside Little Forest, a creative learning academy nurturing young minds aged six months to six years through the transformative power of play. Infusing play into every aspect of learning, from dance and drama to music, sports, and culinary arts—Little Forest offers joyful and interactive learning experiences.
