Koru (Māori for "loop" or coil), is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling silver fernfrond. It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving and tattooing, where it symbolises new life, growth, strength and peace. Its shape conveys the idea of perpetual movement, while the inner coil suggests returning to the point of origin. Tze Toh and TO ensemble presents a concert that celebrates rebirth and the continuity of life. It's been more than a year since the world has “restarted”, and more than ever we realise how humanity is resilient, capable of constantly adapting and evolving, and always looking forward. The concert premieres a new suite of works that bring together original composition x sound design x live improvisations; a sonic tapestry that brings together jazz, film music, Carnatic music, classical music and Asian sounds. Come join us for an immersive music journey through past, present and future, of humanity's dreams, memories, and most importantly, love and connection with nature and life itself. Featuring Tze Toh (piano), Lazar T. Sebastine (Carnatic violin), and Teo Boon Chye (tenor saxophone) with guest musician Miyata Masato (bass).
