– The Straits Times
Following the successful concert tours in the United States, Thailand and China, the Ballerinas piano duo -- Lin Hengyue and Wang Ji -- will play a series of classics, back in Singapore this September. Widely known for their favourable and easily appealing programmes, the duo will perform Rachmaninov's Suite No.1 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the composer.
PROGRAMME
Lin Hengyue and Wang Ji
Founded with the support of the National Arts Council's Noise Matchbox programme, Ballerinas successfully debut in August 2017, with an evening of enjoyable music from ballets and operas. The concert was described as 'highly-spirited' by The Strait Times, and 'very sincere and heart-warming dialogue' from current music teachers and students. Lianhe Zaobao described the duo as 'breaking away from the traditional impressions of Classical music'. The success of the debut concert soon led the duo to perform in China, Thailand, and under the invitation of Steinway artist Dr. Dean Kramer, the United States.
In October 2019, the duo's multi-disciplinary presentation at the Performers Present Research Symposium at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concert Hall, received rave reviews from the Queen of the Toy Piano, artist Margaret Leng-Tan. Ballerinas was also invited by the Singapore-Chinese Friendship Society to perform the Yellow River Piano Concerto at Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay.
