In this performance, Melati Suryodarmo and two performers enact gestures evoking primal ways of being, as an exploration of the ways enduring human behaviours shape how we relate with each other and lend insight into the fissures that persist in the world today.
This performance is presented as part of the exhibition Fracture by Melati.
No registration is required for the performance.

Melati Suryodarmo
The practice of Melati Suryodarmo (b.1969, Indonesia) revolves around research into body movements, and the relationship between the body and its surrounding environment. Melati works across performance, installation, time-based media, sculpture and print to explore time, identity and politics. She has shown extensively in international festivals and biennales, including the Asia Pacific Triennale, QAGoMA, Australia (2015), Manifesta 7, Italy (2008) and the Venice Biennale (2003). She has earned acclaim at renowned venues and was conferred the Bonnefanten Award for Contemporary Art (2022). In 2012, she founded the experimental art hub Studio Plesungan.
