Synopsis

Having burst onto the music scene in 2022 with their unique blend of ethereal elements and breathtaking soundscapes, motifs continues their streak into 2023 with the live performance launch of their debut album, Remember A Stranger.

 

In this one-night only performance, motifs will perform the album in its entirety, bringing their dream-like music to life through emotive and nostalgic lyrics, accompanied by stunning live visuals.

 

Concertgoers will also be one of the first few to be able to purchase the vinyl record and CD of Remember A Stranger.

motifs is a shoegaze/dream pop band that formed in Singapore in 2019. 

 

The quintet comprises Elspeth Ong (vocals, guitar), JJ Tan (lead guitar), Paul Yuen (bass), Badrul Amin (synth/vocals/guitar) and Jolin Chiam (drums).  

 

Citing influences from ‘90s shoegaze, post-punk, and dream-pop acts, the band crafts a world of ethereal soundscapes by combining lilting melodies with reverb-drenched nostalgia.  

 

In 2022, the band released their long-awaited debut album Remember A Stranger, recorded with veteran producer Leonard Soosay of Snakeweed Studios.  

 

The band has also built a reputation for their dynamic and mesmerising live shows, through numerous showcase opportunities in 2022 such as the Baybeats Budding Programme, Scape’s Music Day Out and Come Together: The Next Wave.  

 

The band plans to continue playing live shows and hopes to eventually tour overseas. At the same time, the band believes in honing their craft to create meaningful atmospheric music with future studio releases.

monda(e) is a four-piece instrumental band that plays along the lines of joyful and energetic music. Fusing together elements of rock and ambient with occasional sprinkles of odd musical phrases, monda(e) hopes to get their listeners smiling, dancing and head-banging throughout their set.
