From indie darling to global alt-pop sensation: Marie Ulven—better known as girl in red—makes her highly-anticipated Singapore debut at Esplanade!

 

With a potent blend of introspective lyrics and dreamy melodies that worm their way into your heart, Norwegian singer-songwriter girl in red is the new face and sound of youthful yearning, heartache and romance. She first caught the attention of listeners online with two singles released in 2018, the anthemic we fell in love in october and soul-baring i wanna be your girlfriend, which remain as two of her most popular songs. Her 2021 debut full-length album if i could make it go quiet further propelled her to the stardom, acclaimed by both fans and critics alike who were charmed by her honest songwriting and undeniable musicianship. To date, every song on the album has more than 10 million streams, with songs Serotonin (created in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer and brother of Billie Eilish, FINNEAS) and midnight love racking up more than 100 million streams.

 

The success of the album spawned several high-profile performances: television appearances on shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live!, a robust North American tour which included appearances at mega festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza, and a UK/EU headline run including shows at Glastonbury and Hammersmith Apollo. She has also been endorsed by pop royalty like Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift, the latter of which handpicked girl in red to open for her record-breaking Eras Tour in 2023.

 

Heading back into the studio in 2024, girl in red emerged with the dynamic 10-track album I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!. While the album marked a slight departure from the lo-fi, confessional pop that fans first fell in love with, the album at its core reflects what fans around the world have come to crave from girl in red: irresistibly catchy, guitar-driven songs filled with raw emotion. Now, embarking on her first ever Asia/Oceania tour, girl in red will take the stage at the magnificent Esplanade Theatre.
