St. Joseph's Institution Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band from St. Joseph’s Institution is an ensemble of young musicians who are known to captivate audiences with their precision, energy, and passion for music. From classic pieces to modern favourites, their repertoire showcases a diverse range of genres and styles. Under the direction of conductor, Mdm Tan Soh Hwa, the band members honed their skills to master 16 different instruments belonging to woodwinds, brass and percussion. The Symphonic Band performs for school programmes as well as public events and has won several accolades along the way. Two teams had participated in the last Singapore Youth Festival and both teams were awarded double distinctions.

This year, the St. Joseph’s Institution Symphonic Band is once again honoured to be invited to perform at Esplanade’s Limelight series. Join them in this concert which will include pieces such as Journey to Zipang, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and selections from Les Miserables.

Bringing the arts to communities in need through Limelight

Half of the ticket proceeds will go toward supporting Esplanade’s community engagement programmes which bring the arts to at-risk youth, the elderly, people with special needs and other underserved communities.
