What lies within the conch shell? Lift it to your ear! The magical music of the sea awaits for all to hear!

 

Step into the enchanting world of A Sea of Stories: Music and Myths from Southeast Asia with musicians from the Open Score Project, and narration by Benjamin Chow. Drawing from the vibrant cultures of Southeast Asia, this magical experience will showcase musical traditions and stories from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. As we sail across the waters that connect us through three different folktales, A Sea of Stories invites you to rest your ear against the spiral of the conch—experience the tapestry of sounds, learn about our traditional stories and instruments, and celebrate the interconnectedness of the region through the universal language of music and storytelling.

 

Join us on this voyage as we explore the hidden treasures nestled within the heart of our Southeast Asian traditions.

Open Score Project

Open Score Project (OSP) is a syncretic music ensemble in Singapore whose sound uniquely converges various ethnic musical cultures of the world.

 

The Open Score Project (OSP) is a syncretic music ensemble founded in 2018. Comprising of musicians from different cultural backgrounds and musical influences, the Open Score Project aims to frontier a new sound that reflects Singapore's identity and cultural diversity.

 

OSP draws inspiration upon the different cultural traditions of Singapore for its original works and arrangements. The soundscape of the ensemble encompasses a variety of colour from different ethnic instruments, such as the Morin Khuur, Pipa, Tabla, Accordion, Cello, Bansuri amongst others. The mission of the ensemble is to paint a unique soundscape fitting of the rich cultural diversity in Singapore through artistic exchanges and collaboration among artists.
