The Lion City Brass Band was established in 2015 to promote brass music in Singapore. Led by founding Music Director Ignatius Wang, the band has developed a strong reputation for its captivating and awe-inspiring performances across a diverse range of musical genres.
As the premier brass ensemble in Singapore, the Lion City Brass Band has performed at several music festivals and concert venues and works regularly with Singaporean composers to promote and create new works for the band. With its commitment to inspire a new standard of brass musicianship in Singapore, the band is also recognised for its work with young students and school bands through its annual brass workshops and joint performances.
Made up of some of Singapore’s finest brass musicians and educators, Lion City Brass Band’s recordings have been frequently featured on the international radio show, Sunday Bandstand, and broadcasted through radio stations across Australia, Cyprus, France, New Zealand, UK and the USA. The band has also collaborated with several groups, including the Eastern Australia Brass during their tour to Singapore in 2018, and is also known for their annual Christmas charity concert at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd.
