Experience a vibrant fusion of cultures with Singapore Rojak, a dynamic trio blending diverse instruments into one unforgettable night. Featuring Mohamed Faizal on guzheng, Rudi on rebana and tabla, and Yen Chien on pipa, the group reimagines familiar favourites like Moonlight in the City 城里的月光 and Bunga Sayang through a rich, multi-ethnic lens. Iconic, exciting, and unmistakably Singaporean, this trio lives up to their name, celebrating the city’s cultural tapestry in every note.
Mohamed Faizal
A talented and experienced guzheng player, Mohamed Faizal has performed both locally and internationally, showcasing music from various genres and cultures, garnering high praise and admiration. His diverse playing style has inspired guzheng players worldwide, particularly in China, with many incorporating his approach into their music arrangements and compositions.
Rudi Bin Salim
Rudi Bin Salim, a Malay traditional percussionist, began his musical journey in 1990 as a dikir barat performer. In 2011, he founded the Malay traditional music ensemble Nobat Kota Singa, and later joined the Malay percussion ensemble Nadi Singapura as a senior drummer and leader.
Chin Yen Chien
Chin Yen Chien began learning the pipa at the age of 10 and quickly gained recognition, winning top awards in multiple local and regional competitions such as the Inaugural Chinese Music Competition, and the National Music Competition organised by the National Arts Council. Over the years, he has represented Singapore at various international arts events and cultural exchanges, including performances in India, Thailand, and Malaysia. In 2018, Yen Chien and his multi-ethnic ensemble, Art Dè Trio, performed at the Singapore Festival in Moscow, where they received praise from the Singapore Ambassador to Moscow.
