Experience a bold fusion of classical and modern sounds as the Indian Fusion Ensemble of School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) perform four distinct compositions: Bantureethi, a soulful composition by Saint Tyagaraja, reimagined with dynamic background music; Jog Blues, a lively mix of jazz and the Indian Raga Jog, featuring an exciting call-and-response section; Rhythm Earth, a heartfelt tribute to Mother Earth, with music inspired by the beauty of nature; and Rangi Sari, a vibrant folk song transformed through a captivating arrangement with a stunning thillana (rhythmic Carnatic piece) finale. Join them for a journey through rhythm, culture and creativity!
No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Indian Fusion Ensemble (SOTA)
The Indian Fusion Ensemble of School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) is a dynamic group dedicated to exploring and performing Indian classical music within a contemporary context. Directed by the highly acclaimed musician and National Arts Council Young Artist Award recipient Nawaz Mirajkar, the ensemble engages in innovative projects that blend traditional Indian musical elements with other cultural influences.
With an ambition to conserve and promote Indian culture, the ensemble has been performing at SOTA’s annual showcases, namely the Silk Road Rhapsodies.
Through such performances, the Indian Fusion Ensemble contributes to Singapore's rich multicultural arts scene, fostering a deeper appreciation for Indian music among diverse audiences.
