Synopsis

Who doesn’t love a good breakup song? And it’s not just the specialty of Taylor Swift—songwriters have been lamenting the end of love for as long as there has been music. In this five-song set, musician Charles Ang sets the witty, poetic lyrics of Felix Cheong to easy-listening jazz music, with sultry vocals by the effervescent Nicole Verghese, channelling the style of jazz crooners from the 1940s and ‘50s. You’re in for a swinging good time!

With experience spanning theatrical productions, live events, and choir accompaniment, he captivates audiences with his artistry. He is honoured to be part of this collaboration, bringing music and storytelling to life.

Felix Cheong

Felix Cheong is the author of 31 books across different genres, from poetry to graphic novels. He has also written three opera librettos with classical music composers like Chen Zhangyi and collaborated with singer-songwriters like Jean Tan. In 2000, he won the National Arts Council's Young Artist Award.

Nicole Verghese

Nicole Verghese is a Singaporean pop and choral vocalist. She was one of the co-creators of the Cor Novum Choir in 2016, a project-based community choir that has raised over $150,000 for various charities over four years, including Caritas Singapore and Assisi Hospice. Nicole aspires to continue writing new music, enhancing her musical range and collaborating with more local musicians and composers.
