Synopsis

Singaporeana Blues is a blues and spoken-word performance, part of a collaboration between guitarist Victor Chen and writer Laremy Lee that has spanned over five years. Together with Brian Lim on harmonica, they explore the universality of the human experience across time and space in an interdisciplinary integration of music, theatre and the literary arts, through themes of love, longing and loss. The show will feature original poetic and dramatic works by Lee, curated to a selection of blues classics by artists such as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Mississippi Fred McDowell, as well as originals by Chen.

DeltaV is the platform through which guitarist Victor Chen presents the blues and its sub-genres with exploratory instrumental line-ups. This performance will feature Brian Lim on harmonica, capturing the classic blues duo sound originating from the Mississippi Delta, previously showcased in Esplanade’s Crossing Borders.
