Take a moment to breathe and hear how an unlikely ensemble of four musicians are brought together through song. Join Charmaine, Jeremy, Nadine and Gin as they explore how stories withstand the test of time through familiar tunes from a vocal repertoire that includes British folk classic The Water is Wide, The Swallow《燕子》and Rossini’s Cats’ Duet!
Charmaine Tan (Soprano)
Charmaine Tan is a versatile soprano with a diverse and expressive vocal range. As a member of Resonance of Singapore, she regularly performs at prestigious events and concerts. Her musical accomplishments include winning the “Most Expressive Award” at the Forte International Competition at Carnegie Hall and also had the honour of being invited to perform the Singapore National Anthem and the American National Anthem at the Singapore Embassy in Washington D.C. for the “SG50 celebration” and the “SG50 and SAF celebration”. She also participated as a member of the Manhattan Girls Chorus at the “Women in the World Summit” where she performed for celebrities including Barbara Streisand, Helen Mirren and Hilary Rodham Clinton. She was also invited to sing for the Italian ambassador at the Accademia Italiana Cucina Institution. Since then, she has been invited annually to perform at Italy’s National Day and Italian Armed Forces and Unity Day.
Jeremy Koh (Baritone)
Jeremy, a graduate of the Royal College of Music, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and AERCO Scuola di Canto Gregoriano, is a award-winning Baritone singer with accolades including the Tan Ngiang Kaw/Ann Memorial Vocal Competition and a bronze at the Bangkok Opera Foundation’s International Singing Competition. Having a passion for reaching out to new audiences in the local community, he has co-developed an inclusive singing programme for the elderly in collaboration with Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. His earlier work as Spot Pocket Opera Theatre's artistic director has been recognised and featured in local media such as The Straits Times and Channel News Asia.
Nadine Ng (Violin)
Nadine, the current concertmaster of The Purple Symphony, is a versatile violinist with a Bachelor's degree from the Royal College of Music. In addition to her orchestral work, she also plays in the Double Duo with vocalist Jeremy Koh, exploring a diverse range of repertoire from pre-Renaissance to early 20th-century music. The duo has won numerous international awards since they started performing together in 2022. Nadine also leads various multi-disciplinary projects, conducts student ensembles, and teaches violin privately. Nadine currently plays on a 1790 Lockey Hill on generous loan from the Rin Collection.
Tsai Gin Tzu (Piano)
Gin Tzu, a distinguished pianist, holds a Master’s from the Royal College of Music in London and a bachelor's degree in music from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She has been the recipient of generous support from esteemed donors, including E.Sun Bank, The Hokkien Foundation, and the Estate of Lucien Wang and was honoured with the Best Graduate Award for her undergraduate studies. She has also won many prestigious prizes in international competitions such as the Bali International Open Piano Competition 2018, Singapore Asia Youth Piano Competition 2018 and NAFA-Kris Foundation Fund Concerto Competition 2020. She is celebrated for her diverse repertoire, which champions both timeless classics and works by underrepresented composers. This commitment to inclusivity and artistic excellence makes her a unique and inspiring figure in the world of music education and performance.
