The oboe performance begins with Vivaldi’s Oboe Concerto in D minor, RV 454, a masterful display of Baroque elegance and virtuosity. Britten’s Pan from Six Metamorphoses after Ovid follows, evoking a haunting and mythical presence. Marina Dranishnikova’s Poem for Oboe and Piano unfolds as an intimate and poignant conversation between the instruments, while Sancan’s Sonatine closes the programme with a delightful fusion of French refinement and whimsical charm.

Students of Simon Lee
Simon’s oboe students have participated in numerous performances and festivals, showcasing their growth as musicians. Some have gone on to pursue their studies in music and most perform actively, contributing to the local classical music scene.
Also featured in this performance are wind chamber groups from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YST) in Singapore. Under the guidance of Simon Lee, these ensembles have delved into diverse musical expressions while preserving the spirit of chamber music collaboration. This performance reflects their continuous development and commitment, highlighting the synergy of wind instruments in an intimate, yet dynamic musical setting.
