eswandy sarip and ruby jayaseelan are in malapetaka. since 2021, they have been exploring their states through improvised sound and movement, respectively, as means of sporadically coping. in this shared space, they discovered a spectrum of pathways in their practices and observed invocations and narratives. this has led to malapetaka becoming an entity, with its gatherings serving as intangible offerings to forces unseen and unknown amidst catastrophes. recently, malapetaka performed in connection with the land in chiang mai, thailand for the mango art festival 2023.
