Synopsis

Join music teachers for an afternoon celebrating our nation’s birthday and music education in Singapore. In this 10th anniversary edition of Friends in Concert, our ‘chers’ perform familiar favourites from past National Day Parades and traditional folk songs, such as Rasa Sayang, Singapore Town, and Singai Naadu. Expect the unexpected, including more contemporary offerings, original musical creations, and even a Singaporean twist on Adele’s popular hit, Rolling in the Deep.

Advisory:

No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Singapore Teachers’ Academy for the aRts (STAR) is a division of the Ministry of Education, Singapore. It was established in 2011 to deepen the professional development and learning of our arts teaching fraternity.

 

Since 2014, Friends in Concert (FIC) has been an annual platform that strengthens and empowers music educators’ teacher-musician identities and aims to bring about a deeper sense of shared belonging to the music teaching fraternity. Through their participation in this year’s FIC, teacher-musicians consider what is worth sustaining in music education, and how they could work towards creating sustainable futures in and through music education in Singapore.
