Synopsis

The dreamy and desolate landscapes of the poetry of Daryl Lim Wei Jie (Young Artist Award, 2023), from his acclaimed collection, Anything but Human, (shortlisted for the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize), verge on apocalypse and revelation, and are rife with visceral and surprising images. In this performance, Daryl collaborates with Dave Lim, a visual artist and filmmaker (and his brother), interpreting these poems in real-time visual form, resulting in a poetry reading like no other.

Daryl Lim Wei Jie

Daryl Lim Wei Jie is a poet, translator and editor. His latest collection of poetry is Anything but Human, which was shortlisted for the 2022 Singapore Literature Prize. His latest book is The Second Link, an anthology of Malaysian and Singapore creative writing that reflects on the unique relationship between the two countries. He was awarded the Young Artist Award in 2023, Singapore’s highest accolade for young arts practitioners under 35.

Dave Lim is a documentary artist and filmmaker.His work contemplates on the form of truth as we consume it. His work has shown internationally and locally. He works frequently with DASSAD and MPEG, two art collectives based in Singapore.
