Join HIBIKIYA for an enchanting performance featuring the shinobue, a Japanese bamboo flute, and the shamisen, a traditional stringed instrument. You’ll also experience the dynamic rhythms of taiko drums and other unique Japanese percussive instruments.

HIBIKIYA is a vibrant Japanese cultural ensemble based in Singapore. It has been making waves with its captivating performances from powerful taiko drumming to graceful GEINO (folk performing arts) as well as OHAYASHI (festival music).

  

In January 2024, HIBIKIYA received the prestigious Foreign Minister’s Commendation from the Japanese government. This honour recognises their outstanding contribution in promoting Japanese culture in Singapore. Their dedication to introducing lesser-known traditional arts, such as the shishimai (Japanese lion dance), onikenbai (sword dance), and Sansa Odori. HIBIKIYA’s performances transcend borders, bridging cultures and fostering friendship. Their commitment to excellence and tireless efforts have made them cultural ambassadors.
