Synopsis

Experience the fusion of Western and Korean instruments in WeMu’s Six Stories. This performance reimagines traditional rituals and aims to break away from the shamanic nature of the rituals in Gut (a shamanic ritual to ask, welcome, and repatriate deities, performed by shamans) to convey blessings of well wishes and luck to the audiences.

Artist Information

WeMu

WeMu is a Korean ensemble that innovates music by incorporating traditional shamanic beats and melodies of Korea. In 2022, they were invited to perform at numerous local and international events including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to which they received raving reviews for their performance. WeMu remains dedicated to reshaping traditional Korean music, both domestically and internationally.
