RENE

Instagram | TikTok

RENE is an independent artist from Singapore. Meaningful and relatable lyrics, rich vocals and catchy guitar lines are what create her signature sound, taking inspiration from pop, rock and indie genres. Her songwriting encompasses themes such as societal commentary, self-reflection and personal relationships.

This year, RENE launched a new era of music with her EP Slipped Through My Fingers, along with the butt-kicking music video for her single Rule The World directed by Lenne Chai. She also had two collaborations which are a coming-of-age indie rock track with hongjoin titled we grew up together, and an acoustic rendition of her indie-pop single we’re gonna die anyway!!! with Marian Carmel, released a year from its initial release in celebration of Pride.

Born in the Philippines and raised in Singapore, singer-songwriter Marian Carmel has an innate ability to evoke emotions. Her ethereal vocals breathe life into the melancholic nature of her songs and she is influenced by the story-driven songwriting styles of Lizzy McAlpine, Dayglow and Valley. Having released her first significant body of work, Marian Carmel’s debut album To You, To Me has solidified her position in the region as one of the most promising singer-songwriters and topliners from Singapore.

aeriqah

Singapore-based artist aeriqah describes herself as a singer and storytelling-songwriter in a post-genre world. Though if anyone asks, indie-folk with some influence of pop and musical theatre. As a storyteller at heart, aeriqah’s songwriting is guided by her most sacred experiences. Her writing explores the complexities of mental health, heartbreak and letting go. The brutally honest lyrics and sentimental nature of aeriqah’s songs take influence from the music of dodie, Lizzy McAlpine and JP Saxe.

lewloh

Uncompromising in his pursuit of songwriting, lewloh is a Singapore-based musician, songwriter and Twitch streamer. With an openness to all that life has to offer, his writing is honest, warm and curious to understand love from different points of view. This refreshing take on the singer-songwriter genre in Asia puts him on the forefront of emerging artists from Singapore and the rest of Southeast Asia. Being LGBTQ+, Asian and a third-culture kid are key parts of lewloh’s identity as it brings about a unique intersectional perspective of not being able to fit in, often in more ways than one. If life is a patchwork, then lewloh is assembling the pieces of what he loves into something visually and musically unique.

hongjoin

At 21 years of age, hongjoin is an artist who firmly believes in the DIY process, recording, producing and mixing all his tracks from start to finish. hongjoin's latest EP F(OOL) spans multiple genres within the alternative realm, including indie pop and alternative rock. His music balances cinematic soundscapes with honest and hard-hitting songwriting, but knowing his way around a crowd while on stage is what makes every show a fun and unique experience for the listener.
