Vocal Focal: Introduction to Live Beatbox Looping Workshop

Minian is a beatboxer who uses a loop pedal to layer his vocals live. As a one-man band, he recreates entire songs using only his voice—without instruments or pre-recorded tracks. Despite the uniqueness of his art form, Minian’s musical skills beyond vocal percussion equip him with the ability to create full and enriching sounds which he carries into his live shows. His experiences have led him to perform for and work with notable corporations such as Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Gardens by the Bay, National Library Board, SCDF E-Sports, and the 555Beatbox Initiative. Minian earned the competitive title of Loopstation Champion at the Singapore A Capella Championships in both 2023 and 2024, a recognition that also featured him on Channel 8 News.

His passion for music stems from a love of spreading positivity and empathy, resulting in a style that blends energetic and soulful genres such as country pop, reggae, progressive house and liquid drum’n’bass. This passion is evident in his strong stage presence as he engages the crowd and explores the wide range of soundscapes. Through his journey as an aspiring musician, Minian aims to continue pushing the boundaries of vocal music with his acoustic-electric hybrid style and hopes to empower the local a cappella scene.
