Synopsis

Calling all aspiring foley artists! Come explore and feel the vibration of sounds, and use everyday items around us and your imagination to create a creepy soundscape to a children’s horror tale.

 

This inclusive showcase consists of a workshop and a facilitated discussion with the artists and conducted in both Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) and English.

 

About PLAYlab  

This showcase is part of PLAYlab, A developmental platform targeting artists or collectives interested in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) for children twelve years old and under. PLAYlab aims to provide opportunities for research and development in the creation of new ideas for TYA productions. Artists received support to develop their work under the guidance of PLAYlab Artistic Associate, Ellison Tan Yuyang.

Artist Information

Faaiqah Alkaff

Faaiqah is a Deaf performer, interpreter and a member of Redeafination, Singapore’s Deaf hip-hop dance crew. She is passionate about Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) and aspires to be a role model to Deaf children. 

Rachel Nip

Rachel is a hearing choreographer, performer and teaching artist in theatre and dance, with a love for creating site-specific dances, puppetry and devised theatre.

Hello, How Do You Move?

Hello, How Do You Move? was co-founded by Ammar “Ameezy” and Rachel Nip in 2019 with Deaf and hearing artists to create projects inspired by Deaf culture. The collective is a current resident with The Artground’s Groundbreakers 2023.
