Synopsis

Dayna loves drawing and creating imagined worlds. One day, something unexpected happens to her drawings, and Dayna is posed with a challenge like never before. She needs all the help she can get in this new adventure: will you join her?

 

The showcase will consist of an interactive performance-workshop, followed by a facilitated discussion with the artist.

 

This showcase is part of PLAYlab, A developmental platform targeting artists or collectives interested in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) for children twelve years old and under. PLAYlab aims to provide opportunities for research and development in the creation of new ideas for TYA productions. Artists received support to develop their work under the guidance of PLAYlab Artistic Associate, Ellison Tan Yuyang. 

Recommended Age: Recommended for ages 7 to 9 (2pm session) and 10 to 12 (4pm session), accompanying adult must be at least 16 years old.

Jasmin Wong

Jasmin Wong is a writer, educator and an entrepreneur. As founder & director of Taugeh Productions, an arts education company, she believes that through the arts, we can build a world that is empathetic, resilient, and kind. Her educational model is grounded upon serious play, inquiry, and intentional reflection.

 

Her work in education over the last 10 years has offered her opportunities to write for and with young people. She enjoys empowering young people to own their stories and voices. Some of her notable works include Take Flight —written with and for the youths at the Singapore Girls’ Home—which explores owning dreams and making them a reality, Rubbish Bin of Love—devised and written with and for secondary school students for the Singapore Youth Festival—which dives into familial love and the innocence of childhood.

 

Her creative muses include long walks with no particular destination, people-watching, and conversations with strangers.
