Theatre-making for Madam Bach is one big investigation, typically starting with a theme and then investigating crazily in all directions. In this workshop, Christian and Pernille from Madam Bach will start with a short sharing of their 27-year practice, followed by a taster of their workshop for children, ending with an introduction of their approach to making work from the smallest of spaces and places—not always narrative-driven, very image-centric, but always culminating with a whole.
Referencing HOME, the work that they are bringing to Esplanade's March On, this workshop invites participants who are interested in creating their own work. Madam Bach will share their creative processes and starting point.
This workshop is for artists who work in the field of Arts for Young Audiences, only members of ASSITEJ Singapore are able to register for this workshop.
Theatre Madam Bach
Theatre Madam Bach is a world-travelling Artistic Theatre for Children, founded in 1997.
They create visual theatre for children between 0 to 6. Through rich imagery, captivating soundscapes and a poetic use of words, their theatre performances speak to the senses, in a language where the child feels at home. Madam Bach’s shows often branch out in other formats too; music, illustrated books, workshops or art projects, that promote creativity and curiosity, and encourage the child to engage beyond the theatre experience itself.
ASSITEJ Singapore
ASSITEJ Singapore is part of ASSITEJ International, the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People. It is a network of members and not-for-profit organizations that aims to drive the spirit of professional development within the A4YA (Arts for Young Audiences) sector, build a shared space for all interested practitioners and deepen our Community of Practice, and to introduce and encourage pedagogical / embodied practice within artistic practices.
