Rhythms of Chennai: A New Era of Indie Music

Sam Vishal is a talented singer and independent vocalist who rose to fame as the 2^nd runner-up of Super Singer 7 in 2019. His success on the reality show led to an opportunity to work with renowned music director Anirudh Ravichander, where he lent his voice to the popular songs Chitti Story and Putta Story for the film Master. Beyond film music, Sam Vishal is passionate about independent music, regularly releasing his own creations and establishing himself as a versatile artist in the indie music scene.

Priyanka NK is a renowned Indian playback singer who gained prominence through her participation in Vijay TV's Super Singer reality shows. Director Bala noticed her talent and offered her the song Oru Malayoram in the film Avan Ivan, which also earned her the Mirchi Music Award for Best Debut Singer. Priyanka has lent her melodious voice to Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, working with top composers like A. R. Rahman, D. Imman and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Some of her popular songs include Unnaivitta Yaarum Illa, Uyirile Uyirile and Poongatre. Priyanka has also collaborated with various artists for independent music and has performed worldwide. Her accomplishments highlight her talent and versatility in the music industry.

Sivaangi Krishnakumar is a multifaceted Indian actress, playback singer and television personality. She gained recognition as a contestant on Super Singer 7 in 2019 and rose to fame with her appearance on the popular comedy-cooking show Cooku With Comali in 2020. Sivaangi has also made her mark in the film industry with roles in Don and Naai Sekar Returns. As a singer, she debuted in Pasanga with Anbaale Azhagana Veedu and her current hit being the Malayalam song, Water Packet, from the movie Rayyan. She has several independent tracks to her credit, including No No No No Asku Maaro, Talku Lessu Worku Moreu and Adipoli.

K. J. Iyenar, a Mumbai-based Indian Rapper, is celebrated for his captivating fusion of Western and Indian elements. Known for hits like Dhrogam, Kannala Partha and Nenjukkule, Iyenar blends soulful vocals with contemporary beats, creating emotionally rich music. As a contestant on Super Singer 8 (2021), he continues to gain recognition. His recent independent singles, including Rasathi with Shankar Mahadevan, No No No and Oru Kalavaani 2 Komali showcase his evolving artistry and dedication, solidifying his status as a prominent figure in Indian Rap music.

Bharath K. Rajesh is a talented playback singer who gained widespread recognition through his participation in Vijay TV’s Super Singer Season 8 (2021). He made his playback debut with Breakup Song in Naan Sirithal, composed by Hip Hop Tamizha, and has since worked with composers like Leon James and lent his voice to the Telugu film Lal Salaam composed by A. R. Rahman. Bharath's popularity soared with his appearance on Cooku With Comali Season 3, and he is now a contestant on Sun TV’s Top Cooku Dupe Cooku (2024). He has also released several independent songs, including Scene Singari, Sapiduvaen and Cute Jaanu.

Sreekanth Hariharan, a musician and playback singer from Trivandrum, Kerala, now based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, comes from a family of musicians. He began playback singing at 19, working in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, and Bengali for notable composers like A. R. Rahman and Yuvan Shankar Raja. Trained in Carnatic and Hindustani music, he participated in international folk music camps and was a finalist on Super Singer 6. Hariharan’s notable playback songs include songs Unakaga from Bigil, Sophia from 99 Songs and Aazhi Soozhnda from Sivapu Manjal Pachai. His composition, Idhu Kanava, won the World Music category in the International Songwriting Competition.
