Anchored by the powerful street drums such as the Parai of Tamil Nadu, the Nashik Dhol of Maharashtra, and the Bhangra Dhol from Punjab, this show promises an electrifying evening of traditional Indian drumming in a contemporary fashion.

 

Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of sounds as we showcase original songs and compositions from Damaru Singapore and traditional folk tunes and rhythms from diverse Indian cultures.

Damaru is Singapore’s Organization for Traditional Indian Drumming, comprising enthusiasts and professionals who are passionate and committed to uplifting the craft.

 

The organization focuses on Pan-Indian Folk and Street drumming traditions from various states in India, presenting them in a contemporary style that is unique to Singapore. The Damaru academy offers opportunities to learn the various traditions in an easy and enjoyable manner through a structured approach.

 

Damaru strives in creating awareness and appreciation for Traditional Indian drumming and making it accessible. Its motto Educate, Entertain and Empower is crafted to achieve its vision; to make Traditional Indian drumming a lifestyle in Singapore, building a community of passionate, competent and cultured drummers, who uphold its traditions.
