Artist Information

Weixiang Tan

Wei, a virtuoso jazz pianist, educator and conductor, boasts an illustrious two-decade career with international performing and conducting credits. He has shared the stage with numerous Grammy winners and nominees, such as Randy Brecker, Stanley Jordan, Brian Lynch and Lewis Nash, and has performed in major jazz festivals around the world. Serving as the Senior Associate Music Director of Jazz Association (Singapore), Wei has played a pivotal role in bringing jazz to various segments of Singaporean society. He is also the principal conductor of Jazz Association Youth Orchestra. In the academic realm, Wei dedicated nearly a decade as a full-time lecturer at Lasalle College of the Arts and currently holds an adjunct position. Wei was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts in 2020. 

Nakano Kenji

Nakano Kenji, based in Singapore, specialises in electric and double bass. He has collaborated with local veteran musicians like Joshua Wan, Andrew Lim, Tan Wei Xiang, Soh Wen Ming, Nicole Duffell, Alemay Fernandez, and Louis Soliano. He has also worked with international acts visiting Singapore, such as Alex Sipiagin and Sharik Hasan. Kenji was also part of Mosaic Jazz Fellows, a local jazz mentorship programme hosted by Esplanade in 2016, under the guidance of Chok Kerong, Joshua Wan, Andrew Lim, and Tony Makarome.

 

Kenji has since been pursuing freelance opportunities ranging from private events to public venues. These venues include Blu Jaz Café, Maduro, Cool Cats, Esplanade, the National Gallery Singapore, and more.
