Synopsis

Flipside is all about finding humour and connection in the everyday, and this year, we pay homage to the ordinary object. With a little bit of imagination and creativity, we can give these ordinary objects new forms and meaning.

 

Bring a piece of Flipside home through these curated craft workshops available on both weekends of the festival! The featured object for the sessions on 1 and 9 Jun is paper.

 

Taking inspiration from Big Mob, learn how to DIY a flippy, twirly slinky using colouring materials, paper and glue. It doubles as both a fun toy and a decorative piece that can be attached to your loved one’s study or workspace.

Please note that: 

  • The craft will take approx. 15 - 30 minutes to complete. Our facilitators will be onsite to offer advice and guidance. 

  • To ensure that everyone has a chance to try the craft, the activity will only be available on site and each participant will receive one craft set only. 

  • There are a limited number of craft sets, which will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all the craft sets for the session have been given out, participation for that session will be closed. 

  • Participants below six years old should be accompanied by an adult, who will share one craft set with them to complete the activity together.

Did you know that in morse code, a total of seven dots and dashes form the letters in the word 'play'? With seemingly unrelated lines and dots, one can form multiple connections, relationships, shapes and images. Connecting with oneself and joining individuals through play, 7 dots and dashes is a creative collective, that seeks to create spaces and activities for one to recharge and reset, through fun and frolic.
