Join singers Joyce Lee Tung and Cindy Honanta for an evening of opera arias and duets from the Viennese classical period, featuring the music of Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven and Gluck. Together with pianist Nicholas Loh, experience the artistry and emotive storytelling from one of opera’s most exquisite eras.
Joyce Lee Tung
Soprano, Joyce Lee Tung graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in piano performance and University of Music and Performing Arts Graz in voice. She was finalist and winner of several international singing competitions and was heard on the European radio with music ranging from the early to new music repertory, including the premiere of Americ Goh’s composition.
She is co-founder of the collective, The Art Song Coterie, which is dedicated to promoting the art song and its refined performance. Her concert appearances include performances with Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Her notable operatic roles include Madame Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Isabella (L’inganno felice). Currently, she is adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and adjunct voice teacher at School of The Arts, Singapore.
Cindy Honanta
Mezzo-soprano Cindy Honanta made her operatic debut at the age of 23, as Bianca in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia. Her performance in Bach’s St. John Passion was praised by The Straits Times, “A particularly moving moment came… with alto Cindy Honanta’s sublime aria Es Ist Vollbracht!” Her recent operatic roles include Divinity in Richard Mills’ The Butterfly Lovers and Teresa in Bellini’s La Sonnambula. She actively sings with the Choralimus Chamber Choir and the a cappella ensemble Chroma. Cindy completed her Bachelor of Music (Highest Distinction) in Voice Performance at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
Nicholas Loh
Nicholas is no stranger to Singapore’s music scene and is sought after as a soloist, collaborator and educator. He has been described as a “fervent exponent of new music” whose pianism is “an inspiration”. He has given numerous recitals devoted to works by living composers, his most recent being part of the 27th Singapore International Piano Festival. He has performed with local and international artists, as well as groups including the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. He currently works as an educator with both the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.
