Established in 2004, Rave Harpers, Singapore's premier Harp Orchestra, is known for its captivating performances under the leadership and direction of Katryna Tan, a recipient of the Young Artist award. The ensemble comprises harp students spanning from as young as five years old to highly skilled young musicians.
In 2005, Rave Harpers staged their inaugural Harp Ensemble concert at Singapore's esteemed Esplanade Concert Hall, featuring a mesmerizing ensemble of 17 harps. This was followed by a heartwarming Christmas charity concert at the Arts House, as well as several appearances at prestigious venues including Singapore's National Library, Shaw Stage at the Singapore Botanical Gardens, and the Recital Studio of Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. In 2008, Rave Harpers recorded their debut CD, capturing their enchanting performances for audiences to enjoy.
The ensemble's repertoire spans a wide range of genres, encompassing classical compositions, Asian-themed pieces, swing music, and contemporary tunes. Many of these works are specially arranged for the ensemble by director Katryna herself. Rave Harpers also performed in the production of four Harp Musicals — Pluck the Harp Fairy, Pluck and the Magical Banyan Tree, Legends of the Harp and Adventures of Pluck & Harpo. These were highly acclaimed, and they performed not only in Singapore but internationally in Hong Kong (2018) and Wales (2022). Through their passion, dedication, and outstanding musicianship, Rave Harpers continue to captivate audiences with their unique blend of harmonies, making a profound impact on Singapore's music scene and beyond.
