Synopsis

Join the winners of the junior category of the Singapore Chinese Music Competition (SCMC) 2022 at 4.30pm as they showcase their wonderful performances of the guzheng, erhu, zhongruan and dizi.

 

In the evening, be swept away by the beautiful melodies of the piano and violin as the participants of the National Piano & Violin Competition (NPVC) take the stage.

 

Come join our talented young musicians in this musical extravaganza!

Prize Winners of the SCMC

 

Ee Anzhi 

Ee Anzhi has been playing the dizi since the age of six. In 2022, he clinched first place at the National Chinese Music Competition for the Erhu Junior Category. In his free time, Anzhi also enjoys playing table tennis and paddle boarding.

 

Genevieve Choy

Genevieve has been playing the guzheng since the age of 6. In 2021, she attained her Grade eight certification from Central Conservatory of Music Chinese Instruments Graded Examinations. Genevieve has participated in various competitions including the Singapore Chinese Music Competition 2022 (1st Prize) and the Nanyang International Music Competition 2021 (Bronze). In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music and playing games.

 

Isabella Chan

Isabella Chan is currently a student at Elias Park Primary School. She started her zhongruan journey when she was in primary two and is currently a member of the school Chinese Orchestra. In the Singapore Chinese Music Competition 2022, she won the Zhongruan Junior Category 1st prize award.

 

Zeng Hao Ran

Hao Ran plays the piano and erhu and is currently a member of the Singapore National Youth Chinese Orchestra. In 2021, he scored distinction for his piano grade eight examination. In 2022, he clinched first place at the National Chinese Music Competition, Erhu Junior Category. He is currently a student at Victoria School.

Jacob Cheng

Jacob enjoys sharing music in community and charity events. He has been part of Sing50 celebrations with the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, World Strings of Hope and Youth4Climate Festival. At the age of 10, he performed solo with MacPherson Philharmonic Orchestra and has since performed solos with the Kids Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra Accademia d'Archi Arrigoni Italy. Jacob is the 1st and 2nd Prize-winner at Singapore’s 2019 & 2021 National Piano & Violin Competition and was most recently awarded the Vivaldi Prize by the CIDIM Comitato Nazionale Italiano Musica. He performs regularly with his chamber group and school orchestra, and is a member of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra.

 

Le-Shaine

Le-Shaine plays the violin and is currently a 3rd year student at Nanyang Girls High School.  In 2021, she was presented third place at the National Piano & Violin Competition, Violin Intermediate Category. Other than embarking on her solo endeavours, Le-Shaine also enjoys making music with friends. She is the Associate Concert Mistress, as well as section leader in the NYGH String Ensemble.

 

Lim Jing Rui and Samuel Sin

Lim Jing Rui began Suzuki violin lessons at 3.5 years old and started piano lessons a year later. He is currently preparing for DipABRSM in piano and LTCL in violin.

 

Samuel Sin started learning the piano when he was 6 years old, and is currently pursuing Diploma ATCL in piano after having recently finished his grade 6 theory examination.

 

Their interest in music brought the two classmates in their school's Music Elective Programme together to perform at various school events since 2022. They were invited to perform at the Victoria Concert Hall Atrium in January this year during the Singapore Art Week's Light to Night Festival - Atrium Playoff. Jing Rui has also participated in the ChildAid 2022 charity concert as a whistler.

 

March On 2023 at the Esplanade Concourse is the duo's second public appearance and they are looking forward to sharing their love for music with more audiences!
