Yong the Dragon is different. He is timid, quiet, and always feels out of place. Thankfully, his friend, Silver the Snake, always knows just what to do when Yong is feeling down. Silver suggests that they go for a walk, and together, they embark on a journey full of adventure and self-discovery.
Along the way, they encounter various challenges and obstacles, but with each one, they learn to overcome their fears and appreciate their differences. The play is a celebration of friendship and the beauty of being unique.
The audience will be invited to join Yong and Silver on their journey, experiencing a world filled with sensorial activities designed to stimulate their imaginations according to their various developmental milestones. Experiential, entertaining, and most importantly, memorable. Same Same But Different aims to inspire children to embrace their differences and find joy in their individuality.
This showcase will consist of a performance and a facilitated discussion with the artists.
This showcase would also be accessible to children with physical disabilities such as children with vision impairment or blindness, and/or children that are hard of hearing or who experience deafness. However, we would need the caregiver to be by their side at all times to facilitate the process.
This collaboration features Teo Pei Si, founder of the Solitude Movement theatre collective, and Angelina (Anj) Teo, a theatre maker and educator. Through this project, they are uniting their passion for working with children and exploring themes of culture, heritage and identity. Joining them are Cheryl Tan Yun Xin, a bilingual actor and host, and Vanessa Poh, a versatile practitioner with experience as an actor, props master, director, playwright and producer.
