Sound of Soul

With more than 50 years of experience, Bashir is a well-known Singapore pianist and keyboardist, known for his versatility across styles such as pop, jazz, Western classical, R&B, soul, fusion styles and more.

He started out as a percussionist with his brothers in 1972, and at the age of nine, picked up the accordion and was already playing the piano and keyboard by the time he was 15. 

In his music journey, Bashir has worked as a musical arranger and keyboardist in India's film industry with legendary Music Directors M S Viswanathan, Shankar Ganesh, Shyam(Malayalam), Chakravarthy (Telegu), Gangai Amaran, amongst others.

Bashir also worked for Illayaraja as a recording secessionist and for Illayaraja’s world tour during the late ‘80s, touring London, Paris, Germany, Malaysia and Singapore. 

Bashir is also a close associate of Oscar Award-winning composer AR Rahman, for whom he played the keyboard on the composer’s first jingle in the late ‘80s. Bashir has also performed with Rahman in the movies Kadhalan, May Maathem, Thiruda Thiruda, Bombay and many more.
