Rich in tonal complexities and stylistic renderings, Indian classical singing is often known for its expressiveness and musical technicality. In this episode, Carnatic vocalist Lavanya Balachandran introduces the concept of gamakas—ornamented notes which involve its specific rendition using oscillations or glides between notes, rendering the Carnatic music genre its unique sound.
