Sapayuang, meaning "shelter" or "protection", serves as the foundation for this captivating dance that symbolises the resilience needed to face life's challenges. In this performance, the umbrella transforms beyond its role as a shield from the sun and rain, becoming an instrument that enhances the dance with beautiful, dynamic movements.

 

Muara Festival is presented by Era Dance Theatre in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay as part of Esplanade’s Pentas series.
