Award-winning performing arts group, the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra “PWO” (previously The Philharmonic Winds), proudly presents its long-awaited gala concert in celebration of its 20+ years of music-making in Singapore.
On the theme of the renewal of our planet and the human spirit, the gala concert marks PWO’s relaunch as we emerge from the shadows of the COVID-19 pandemic. The centrepiece of the gala concert will be Symphony no. 3 Planet Earth by the acclaimed Dutch composer Johan de Meij, featuring a women’s festival chorus comprising members of Symphonia Choralis led by chorus master, Chong Wai Lun with support from the Voices of Singapore Ladies choir and artistic director, Darius Lim. This symphony, in addition to being an ode to our planet, is also a representation of our wish for the future and our commitment towards the renewal and sustainability of the wind music community in Singapore.
The rest of the concert programme celebrates our 20+ years of making music together and will feature Singaporean composers, conductors, and soloists who have been integral to our growth as an orchestra and the development of the music scene in Singapore.
