Revel in the complex sounds and structures of Singapore progressive rockers ANECHOIS.
ANECHOIS is a band that was formed in 2011. Drawing elements from progressive, post-rock and math rock, the band quickly gained a reputation with their live shows following the release of their EP A Shadow of a Sound in 2012. From their appearance at Baybeats 2012 to playing sold out shows at quintessential venues in Manila, Indonesia and Japan, they also opened for their heroes, Japanese instrumental band toe in 2015. ANECHOIS is a band that constantly seeks out new ways to hone their exceptional sound—a seamless blend of complex rhythmic structures and atmospheric effects that has been described as “ethereal”, “emotional” and “epic”. 2016 saw a string of lineup changes by the band, eventually settling into their current lineup as a quartet with the addition of Lucas Tee on drums and Asyraft shifting from keyboards to bass.
Through the past decade, Every Rage I Seek (ERIS) have remained resilient in the Singapore metal landscape. In late 2019, the band presented their first full-length album titled Atonement, a release which embodies the animosity and resentment towards the ills of modern-day society. In this performance, they will be showcasing a combination of both a celebration of their rage-fueled work and a reflection of the intensity that the album brings.
Their set will include songs off Atonement such as The Tyrant, Scorched Earth and the title track Atonement.
About the band
Every Rage I Seek (ERIS) unleashes a virulent strain of modern metal that combines various metal influences from past to present. Merging the hostile, brutal attack of death metal and the melodic colour of today's progressive metalcore and rhythmic deathcore aggressions, the band is made up of Singaporean visionaries who are ready to unleash a forward-thinking craft of modern metal magnificence. ERIS celebrates more than a decade of history and has previously shared stages with the best Singapore underground acts of their time.
Just prior to the release of their sophomore album Patterns, hauste take to the stage once more at Baybeats. This performance will feature songs both old and new, such as fan favourites Leavings and Apple, as well as new singles off their upcoming album in Nara and Panda.
About the band
Formed in 2015, hauste is a trio that introduces a refreshing explorative style of instrumental rock, with complex melodies, ambient soundscapes and a carefree twang of familiar emotions. Though their music is frequently labelled as progressive and math rock, the band breaks definitional boundaries by experimenting with a symphony of emotive sounds, foregrounded by layers of technical instrumentations and musical narratives.
In Apr 2018, hauste released their debut album Leavings, a testimony to the band’s experimentation with math rock and post-progressive melodies.
Since their inception, the band has performed extensively in Singapore, most notably opening for instrumental rock giants such as Chon, Delta Sleep and Elephant Gym. The trio’s upcoming album Patterns is scheduled for release in mid-2020. While maintaining hauste’s roots in instrumental rock, the sophomore effort also keeps in line with the band’s signature adventurousness, incorporating an unexpected and eclectic mix of genres such as R&B, jazz fusion, indie pop and synthwave.
