SYNOPSIS
Collaborating in their first full-length duo recital in Singapore, two local classical artists join forces in a compelling violin-and-piano recital.
This exhilarating programme spans four completely different sound worlds conceived within the very short span of the early 20th century. Enjoy the jagged lyricism of the Poulenc Sonata, the neoclassical charm of Prokofiev's Second Sonata, the romantic fervour of the Elgar sonata and the fiery gypsy-like exuberance of Ravel's Tzigane.
Edward Tan is a three-time prizewinner at the National Violin Competition and has performed as soloist with various orchestras, collaborating with conductors such as Lan Shui and Gerard Schwarz. This will be his first recital appearance since returning from his studies at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance with High Distinction.

A recipient of the NAFA full scholarship, Sim Yi Kai was conferred the Bachelor of Music with honours in Piano Performance at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts by the University of Wales. Victorious at the 2006 International IBLA Piano Competition in Jakarta, he has since performed extensively in solo and chamber concerts.
