Esplanade - 小世界 Small world

SYNOPSIS

Small world 小世界 by Chang Jin Chao is an installation piece consisting of animation, paintings and sculptures. The Chinese artist currently based in Singapore believes that life is a stage on which everyone plays a role and that humans are constantly seeking something which our fragile souls can depend on. He interprets emotions and communication through a metaphorical “maze” which, to him, enables the process of self-searching. There is a chance of finding oneself within the maze. Yet at the same time, one might also get hopelessly lost. Here the artist questions his identity and existence and depicts his notions and feelings through the use of elements borrowed from nature and the integration of colour, pattern, texture and light.

Earth Hour at Esplanade on 27 March 2010

In line with our efforts to contribute to a greener environment, Esplanade will be participating in the Earth Hour project spearheaded by WWF (World Wide Fund For Nature). Pledging our support for Earth Hour 2010, Esplanade will dim and turn off the lights around the centre from 8.30pm â 9.30pm on Saturday, 27 March 2010. All operations in the centre will continue as normal.
